Sounds like you may want to try some alternative software for remotely decision-making the arrangement.  Some variants of VNC used to bear in a style that would seem to match what y'all're looking for, but it has been some years since I've used them.

Depending on how yous launch the movie and how technical you feel, you might try something like psexec to try to kick off the pic (I can recall of a few situations it may work with, and many it would not, or would not do then easily).
